Course Description Health is more than a medical issue. Health is an integral part of equality and health outcomes that reflect deep-rooted social inequities. Who we are, where we are born, grow up, live, learn, work, and age are all key determinants to our current and future health. Our social environment is widely recognized for playing a crucial role in shaping our patterns of health and vulnerabilities to diseases. This course and trip will require students to look at health through the lenses of individual, interpersonal, community, organizational, and policy aspects that promote health and wellbeing in adults throughout the UK and Ireland. In each city, students will meet with advocates and group leaders along with visiting various health centers and community groups to see how people are fighting for the rights of their local communities.
